As a collegiate athlete interested in sports supplements, there are certain precautions one must take in order to guarantee whether or not the supplement is prohibited. All student-athletes are required to sign a contract stating that consent is given if a drug test takes place. The purpose of drug testing is to discourage participants from artificially gaining advantages over other opponent (NCAA, 2010). The two popular associations that are in charge of such testing are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Each association follows the NCAA substance list which is updated every year. The standards of 2010-2011 can be found at this website:external image ncaa_noback.gif

Any other questions or concerns regarding ones supplement of choice, consult an athletic trainer or physician.
